What can you bring
Accepted
To ensure safe disposal, please make sure all products are in their original containers and clearly display a Canadian regulatory identification number.
- Agricultural pesticides: Unwanted or obsolete farm pesticides, including seed treatments and used miticide strips. (Look for a Pest Control Product (PCP) number on the label.)
- Commercial/industrial pest control: Products intended for use on golf courses or in industrial/commercial pest control. (Must also have a PCP number on the label.)
- On-farm medications: Livestock and equine medications used in an agricultural context. (Look for a DIN, serial, notification, or PCP number on the label.)
Not Accepted
- Treated seed
- Fertilizer, diluted solution, large quantities of unopened product
- Adjuvant or surfactant (full and unopened)
- Needles or sharps, medicated feed
- Aerosol containers
- Premises disinfectants and sanitizers
- Veterinary clinic waste and medications
- Ear tags
- Domestic pesticides fertilizers & animal health products
- Any other household hazardous waste
FAQs
How often are unwanted pesticide and animal medication collections available in each region?
Cleanfarms runs the UPLM program on a rotating three-year schedule in partnership with CropLife Canada and the Canadian Animal Health Institute.
Is it a free service?
Yes, there’s no drop-off cost for farmers. The program is fully funded by Cleanfarms’ crop protection members and the Canadian Animal Health Institute (CAHI), so you can drop off eligible products free of charge.
Who can use this program?
The program is designed mainly for farmers who need to safely get rid of small amounts of unwanted or expired pesticides and livestock/equine medications. But it’s also open to others in agriculture, such as greenhouses, nurseries, turf managers, landscapers, and golf courses.
It is not meant for veterinary clinics, hospitals, government departments, or municipalities that are not directly involved in farming or agricultural research.
How do I know when unwanted pesticides and livestock medications will be collected near me?
What if I’m unsure of whether my product will be accepted?
Unwanted pesticides and livestock medications are handled safely. Liquids and solids are destroyed through high-temperature incineration at approved facilities. Plastic containers are recycled into useful products like fence posts, pallets, drainage tile, guard rails, and curb stops. Learn more

Yes, in Saskatchewan. Beekeepers can bring used or unwanted miticide strips to Cleanfarms UPLM collection events.
